Punta Cana is the name given to a place east of the Dominican Republic in the province of La Altagracia, and which are located numerous hotels, whose total area is approximately 420,000 m².
Punta Cana has its own international airport Punta Cana (PUJ), located about 30 km inland, on the road that leads from Higuey to La Romana, and even sometimes receiving more flights than the Las Americas International Airport Located in Santo Domingo and about 3 hours by road from Punta Cana.
The Punta Cana area begins north of the Playa Arena Gorda, following after the famous Playa Bavaro, Playa Ubero Alto, Macao Beach and Playa El Cortecito. Once the back of the nose are the beaches of Cabeza de Toro, Cabo Engaño, Punta Cana and Juanillo. The coastline of the Punta Cana area stretches 50 km of coastline. The largest part of the beach of Bavaro, considered by the government of Dominican Republic as a national treasure for its rich flora and fauna and natural beauty that can be seen there.
The beaches are of fine white sand and a sea of soft blue color, without reaching the turquoise of the Caribbean beaches located further south. The sea waves and usually the beach is sinking rapidly into the sea. The water is always clear and abundant algae in some areas, and the weather is constant, with average temperatures of 26 º C, being the temperature range of about twelve degrees from 20 degrees C in winter to 32 º C maximum in April and November.
